Electric scooters are on the rise elsewhere for
several years now and in India it is a territory big manufacturers are yet to
step foot in with promising products. Fancying an early start and sales
aspirations that go with it, Okinawa Electric Scooters brand has officially
entered in the domestic space with the launch of Ridge.
The Ridge electric scooter comes with a price tag of
Rs. 43,702 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will require registration from RTO and
insurance as opposed to some of the existing chargeable scooters. The Ridge has
maximum power of 800 Watt and maximum speed of 55 km/h. The all important
electric range stands at 80-90 km and the scooter has climbing angle of 15
degrees.
It features digital speedometer, drum brake system,
alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, telescopic front and double shock absorbers at
the rear. Offered in Matt Silver/Red, Glossy Red, Matt Green/Orange and Glossy
White colour options, the Ridge has a load capacity of 150 kg. The 60V/24Ah
VRLA battery normally takes 4 to 6 hours to fully get charged through a 60V30E
charger. Fast charging of 1-2 hours is an optional feature.
Its products will cater to
the demands of average person’s daily commuting while adding lifestyle without
hurting the environment. Composed to create “revolution” in the Indian
transportation space, the company promises never-seen-before performance
standards. Okinawa won’t be restricting its operations with electric scooters
as motorcycles are in the pipeline as well.
