An updated BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been
spotted on public roads in Germany. The 2 Series Active Tourer looks to be next cab on the
update rank.
As with these earlier 1 and 2 Series updates,
exterior updates to the Active Tourer seem to be limited to detail changes to
the front and rear bumpers, a lightly modified double kidney grille, and a
squarer design for the car’s angel eyes headlights.
We expect the car to sport changed tail-light
graphics, alloy wheel designs, and a revised paint palette, although none of
these items are present on this prototype. If the 1 Series hatch and two-door 2
Series updates are anything to go by, the Active Tourer will gain, depending on
model, bi-LED or full LED headlights, a standard SIM card slot, Apple CarPlay
smartphone mirroring support, and Wi-Fi hot spot functionality.
The safety roster will likely be bolstered by
autonomous emergency braking, capable of working at speeds up to 60km/h, with
pedestrian detection. There will also likely be tweaks to the dashboard,
instrument cluster, and interior trim.
Given how quickly the 1 Series and 2 Series updates
were officially revealed after spy images appeared, we expect the Active Tourer
update to be officially launched in the not-too-distant future.
