Honda have announced the starting
price of the 2017 Civic Type R in the USA. The compact hot hatch which is
currently in its fifth generation, has an MSRP of US$ 33,900.
The 2017 Civic Type R is also the most powerful
production Honda ever sold in America, using a 2.0-liter turbocharged
four-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 306 hp and 400 Nm of
torque. It sends the output to the front axle through a six-speed stick shift,
via a limited slip differential, a combo that allowed it to set a new
Nurburgring lap record for FWD cars of 7:43.80.
Some of the key features of the car are the
dual-axis strut front suspension and multi-link rear, front and rear anti-roll
bars, exclusive springs, bushings, and damper mountings, new Adaptive Damper
System, Brembo brakes, 20x8.5-inch rims wrapped in 245/30 Continental
SportContact 6 tires, high-flow exhaust system, all-aluminum hood, added
structural rigidity, and others. A
7-inch display, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, sat-nav,
voice recognition, 540-watt stereo and sport seats take center stage inside.
Honda has also equipped the new Civic Type R with a
range of driver assistance features such as Vehicle Stability Assist with
Traction Control, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, and tire
pressure monitoring system.
All units of the hot hatch destined for the US
market are produced exclusively at the brand's plant in Swindon, UK, while the
engine is made in Anna, Ohio.
