The 2017 Jeep Compass will reach showrooms in India this week for demo, with its market launch reportedly planned at the end of this month. An IAB reader has shared a comprehensive brochure of the compact SUV, revealing its specifications, features and other new information in detail.

The 2017 Jeep Compass range is divided into three main grades: Sport, Longitude and Limited, with the latter two having an optional sub-grade. Key features of these configurations are as follows:
        
           
[Petrol/Diesel] Compass Sport – 16-inch steel wheels, electrically adjustable and power folding ORVMs, all-black interior, electric parking brake, 5-inch U-Connect touchscreen infotainment system, front airbags, ABS, EBD, four-wheel disc brakes, ESC and TC.

[Diesel] Compass Longitude/Compass Longitude (O) – 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, rear parking sensors, front and rear fog lamps and beige/black interior (Longitude)/projector headlamps, black roof rails, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and rear parcel shelf (Longitude (O)).

[Petrol/Diesel] Compass Limited/Compass Limited (O) – LED tail lamps, Ski-Grey interior, leather steering wheel, leather seats, Selec-Terrain Traction Management System (with 4×4), AWD transmission (with 4×4), front side airbags (with 4×4), curtain airbags (with 4×4) and rear camera (Longitude)/HID headlamps and black painted roof (Longitude (O)).

Colour choices include Vocal White, Hydro Blue, Brilliant Black, Minimal Grey and Exotica Red.


The 2017 Jeep Compass is 4,398 mm long, 1,819 mm wide and 1,667 mm tall, has a wheelbase of 2,636 mm and offers a ground clearance of 178 mm. It will sell with two engine options: 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre Multi-jet II diesel. The 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 164 PS and 250 Nm of torque and routes power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DDCT dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine develops 172 PS and 350 Nm of torque and routes power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel model has an option for the Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system.

FCA India will reportedly launch the 2017 Jeep Compass at prices starting at around INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch edition will not have petrol or automatic variants.
