Suzuki’s next global model is the 2017 Suzuki Swift
Sport which could debut at the IAA 2017 in September. Below are renderings of
the 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport’s front and rear from the Japanese media, courtesy
kurumagt.com.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport gets a more aggressive
exterior than the standard variant with an aero kit, pronounced wheel arches
housing unique alloy wheels and distinctive grille design. On the inside, one
can expect stainless steel sport pedals, leather steering wheel and sport seats
and contrast stitching among other enhancements in line with the sporty theme.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport should weigh more than
the standard 2017 Suzuki Swift (840 kg or more) with the aero kit and the
bigger engine. However, compared to the outgoing Swift Sport, which weighs
1,045 kg (3-door)/1,060 kg (5-door), the all-new Swift Sport will have a better
power to weight ratio thanks to the lightweight ‘HEARTECT’ platform and turbo
engine.
The powerplant in question here is a modified
version of the K14C 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit
tuned to produce 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 245 Nm of torque from
1,500-4,000 rpm. A 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission should send
power to the front wheels. The Sport variant should get a retuned suspension
and twin exhausts as well.
