The design of the BMW X2 has been revealed via
leaked drawings submitted to the Japanese patent office.
These patent images, which we initially spotted on
Carscoops, confirm what we’ve deduced from disguised prototypes, namely the
production X2 will keep most of the details from the 2016 concept car, albeit
with roadworthy wing mirrors, and proper door handles.
The computer generated model also features a toned
down front fascia design, although the latest set of spy photos indicates the
concept’s more aggressive design could be carried through to a sports model or
an M styling kit.
The X2 will be the
sportier and less practical companion to X1. As with the numerically lower
crossover, the X2 will be based on the UKL front- and all-wheel drive platform
that also underpins the 2 Series Active Tourer, the China-only 1 Series sedan,
and the entire Mini range.
