If we were to imagine what the new BMW X4 will look like, using its closest sibling as inspiration would undoubtedly be the best starting point.

This render from X-Tomi Design depicts the next-generation X4 as you'd expect it, namely a sportier looking version of the all-new X3. If you check out the two cars side by side, you'll notice that the entire front end is carried over practically unchanged, and the same stands for most of the rest of the car.

Things change at the upper part, starting at the B-pillar, as the X4 adopts a fastback design with a sloping roofline and smaller glasshouse instead of the more upright hatch of the X3, something we've also seen on the X4 prototypes we've spotted so far.

The earliest we can expect the all-new BMW X4 to launch is this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, although it's possible we might have to wait until 2018 for its official debut.
