Following the popular but limited
911 R, Porsche has since been launching models like the 991.2 GT3 and the
fresh-off-the-oven GT2 RS, giving rivals a headache and customers what they
really want, the more exciting cars.
Enter the new 991.2 GT3 RS. Since the latest GT3
matched the numbers produced by the pre-facelift 991 GT3 RS, courtesy of the
new 4.0-liter flat-six engine, the new version will offer more than 500 hp, with
reports suggesting close to 520 hp coming out of the normally aspirated engine.
There is also a strong chance of Porsche offering a
free manual gearbox option again with the GT3 RS, following the example of its
little GT3 sibling, in addition to the standard PDK transmission.
Other revisions will of course include a more
aggressive aero agenda with additional NACA cooling ducts on the hood, the
new-look front bumper and other smaller tweaks to allow Porsche to claim some
significant gains in downforce over the model it replaces.
There is even the chance Porsche to offer an
optional Weissach package, just like in the GT2 RS, which will add a bundle of
stuff made out of carbon fiber and magnesium for those looking for the lightest
GT3 RS possible and are willing to spend some extra money to get it.
Expect to see the new Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS making
its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
