Suzuki has launched the Gixxer SF ABS in India, in
carburetted and fuel-injected variants. The carburetted ABS version costs INR
95,499, while the fuel-injected ABS model is priced at INR 99,312, both
ex-showroom, Delhi. The ABS is a single channel unit.
ABS is a supplemental system that automatically
controls the braking force more efficiently and avoids wheel lock-up in case of
slippery road conditions, inconsistent terrain; or sudden braking. It helps in
making the motorcycle safer to ride.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS variants
sport the same 154.9 cc single cylinder SOHC engine which generates 14.8 PS of
power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a
5-speed gearbox. Both carburetted and ABS variants produce the same power and
torque figures.
The bike uses 41 mm front telescopic forks and a
7-step adjustable rear monoshock. For anchorage, it employs disc brake on both
ends. The instrument cluster is all digital and comes with a gear indicator as
well. The fuel tank capacity stands at 12 litres. The ABS FI variant weighs 140
kg kerb and the carburetted ABS variant tips the scales at 141 kg, kerb. A
100-section front and a 140-section rear tubeless tyres wrap the 17 inch alloy
wheels.
