Daimler’s plethora of new models revealed at the
Frankfurt Motor Show also include two special edition variants of the
ever-popular G-Class.
Dubbed the Mercedes-AMG G63 and G65 Exclusive
Editions, the duo are expected to be a last hurrah for the current G-Class and
come equipped with a selection of standard components that are normally costly
options.
Chief among these are stainless steel skid plates
and 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels in matte black for the G63 and ceramic
polished for the G65. Elsewhere, the two Exclusive Editions have AMG racing
stripes and plastic rub strips joined by small dark aluminium inserts.
Inside, the two include the designo Exclusive
package consisting of two-tone leather AMG sport seats and a two-tone leather
dashboard to match. There are also a number of other accents offered including
diamond-quilted areas on the seats and door panels and carbon fiber or piano
black lacquer trim.
Power for the G63 Exclusive Edition comes from a
twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 571 PS and 560 lb-ft of torque while the G65 has
AMG’s familiar twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 with 630 PS and 737 lb-ft.
