Mazda Australia is now taking expressions of
interest for the MX-5 RF Limited Edition, which features several equipment and
mechanical upgrades to give the Japanese sports car an even sharper edge. Just
110 units will be available locally, and the special MX-5 appears to be
identical to the MX-5 RF RS revealed for the Japanese market last November.
Extras include front, rear and side under spoilers
normally offered as part of the Kuroi Sports Pack accessory, Brembo brakes with
red calipers, BBS alloy wheels, a strut bar, Bilstein shock absorbers and
Recaro sports seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara.
A choice of five colours will be available, along
with the option of a black roof. While the special edition’s list price hasn’t
been quoted yet, the company’s local website is advertising a national
‘delivered’ price of AUD 55,790 drive-away – AUD 6000 more than the RF GT with black
roof.
Power comes from the same 2.0-litre
naturally-aspirated engine as the standard car, which develops 160 Hp of power
and 200 Nm of torque. The MX-5 RF Limited Edition was initially available to
Mazda Kizuna loyalty customers and existing MX-5 owners. Now, the wider public
has the opportunity to register their interest in 1 of the 110 special
editions, ahead of a March 2018 arrival in dealerships.
