The South
Korean firm has dropped an energetic teaser video of the car. Dubbed ‘Live Loud’, the teaser shows the Veloster
being put its paces while finished in a brightly-colored paint scheme.
The video highlights some key design elements of the car,
including its shark fin antenna, dual central tailpipes, and prominent rear
diffuser. We’re even offered a chance to hear the engine in action and to our
surprise, it sounds quite good.
Hyundai has yet to say what will power the all-new
Veloster but our sources suggested that it will be sold with two different
turbocharged engines, displacing 1.4-liters and 1.6-liters respectively and
joined by seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions as standard. In news that
should excite enthusiasts, a manual ‘box is on the cards for the 1.6-liter.
Not long after the standard Veloster hits showroom
floors, Hyundai will unveil the Veloster N variant, likely powered by the same
271 hp, 2.0-liter turbo four as the i30 N. The 2019 Hyundai Veloster will
premiere at next month’s Detroit Auto Show.
