Following months of the emergence of spy shots and
information regarding the 2018 Mahindra XUV500, Mahindra will finally launch it
in the market sometime next month, as per a report from The Economic Times. The
MY2018 update will bring aesthetic changes and performance improvements to the
three-row SUV.
The Mahindra XUV500 will receive its second minor
refresh with the MY2018 update. The new model is expected to feature tweaked
headlamps with a horizontal LED strip at the top, new radiator grille, new air
dam grille, new 10-spoke alloy wheels and redesigned license plate recess.
Interior changes, if planned, are unknown. Mahindra could at least introduce
Apple CarPlay support in the infotainment system.
The new Mahindra XUV500’s
2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will churn out 170 hp and around 400 Nm,
reportedly. While it’s logical to expect a similar upgrade for the downsized 1.99-litre
mHawk diesel engine offered in Delhi-NCR, there’s still no word on that.
The Mahindra XUV500 is available in W4, W6, W9, W10
and G grades. Mahindra will introduce a new G9 grade with the MY2018 update.
Like the current XUV500 G, the new XUV500 G9 will employ the 2.2-litre mHawk
petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
