The Mitsubishi Triton has been spotted testing with
camouflage, and a new face under wraps. These images of the upcoming Triton
facelift were snapped in Tonsley, South Australia.
It’s very apparent that the front end of this Triton
mule differs greatly from the face of the current generation truck, which made
its debut in Thailand in November 2014. The revised fascia has a slim strip of
headlamps and grille, and below the headlamps are large islands of foglamps
pushed to the far corners of the face.
Along with the X-shaped element are
characteristics of Mitsubishi’s current Dynamic Shield face, as seen on the
latest Eclipse Cross crossover and the Xpander MPV. It’s an evolution of the
much-desired fascia of the current Pajero Sport, with the addition of the large
“floating” foglamps. On the Xpander, those “foglamps” are actually the main
beams, but the Eclipse Cross gets a more conventional layout – this Triton
should be following the latter.
The rest of the truck appears to be similar to
today’s Triton – this generation’s signature beltline crease that fades out in
the middle of the body is clearly visible, as is the Triton’s trademark J-curve
that divides cab and bed.
