One of the favourites of the ‘white van man’, the
Ford Transit is due to receive a facelift, as shown by this set of spy images.
Changes to the exterior are subtle, and are limited to a revised grille with
new slats, and is joined by fog lights along the lower edges of the front.
The facelifted Transit
could include a version of the 3.5 litre EcoBoost V6 petrol turbo engine, and mated
to a 10-speed automatic for the 2019 model year. In the Raptor F-150, the
powerplant produces 450 hp and 691 Nm of torque.
The EcoBoost mill would also either
succeed or complement the current 3.7 litre Ti-VCT V6 in the US-market 2017
Ford Transit, in which the engine produces 275 hp and 353 Nm of torque, sent to
the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Equipment-wise, the revised Ford Transit has yet to
have a confirmed list, though it should build upon the preceding model’s dual
front airbags, ABS, ESP, hill launch assist, emergency brake assist, rollover
mitigation, front and rear parking sensors, three-point seatbelts for all seats
and Isofix child seat anchors. Models in other markets also gain curtain
airbags.
