Audi recently took the wraps off the new A6 Avant so
the company is now turning its attention to the S6 Avant. While much of the
design appears to carryover, the S6 Avant features a sportier suspension and a
reduced ride height. The performance changes don’t stop there, as the prototype
is equipped with an upgraded braking system with larger front and rear discs.
The rear of the car is notably sportier as it
features a modified bumper and four-tailpipe exhaust system. We can also expect
a handful of other styling changes including faux aluminum mirror caps and
plenty of S6 badging.
The interior should echo the standard model and this
is good thing as the cabin is both luxurious and high-tech. Speaking of the
latter, we can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch
infotainment system and an 8.6-inch lower display for climate control and
convenience features. The model should also be offered with an assortment of
upscale options including a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system
and front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
There has been a lot of speculation about what will
power the S6 and the latest rumors suggest the car will come equipped with a
twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine that is shared with the RS4 and RS5. The engine
produces 450 PS in those models but reports have suggested
the S6 could be even more powerful. We can
expect the wagon will be able accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around
four seconds or less.
