Hero Electric is the leading manufacturer of
electric two-wheelers in the Indian market. A new scooter, which focusses on high-speed as well as riding
range, will be launched soon. The existing zero-emission scooters
in the market do not have an appreciable top speed or performance as their
conventional IC-engined counterparts.
Codenamed AXLHE-20, it will kick start a new trend
of scooters from Hero Electric reportedly and will sit at the top of the food
chain. The high-speed series currently comprises of three electric scooters
namely Nyx, Photon and Photon 72 V. With the AXLHE-20 being the new flagship
product, it will be most expensive of the entire range.
Scheduled to launch sometime this year, it will use
a 4,000 W motor that is good enough to top out 85 km/h while being able to
return 110 km riding range on a single charge. It is also said to have
top-notch features and will be a connected e-scooter with instrument cluster
supporting Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration with use of
applications.
It features regenerative braking system and the lithium-ion battery
can be fully charged from zero in about four hours. The largest electric
two-wheeler manufacturer in India has introduced 15 products in the last ten
years and holds a 65 percent market share. Within the span of another year, the
company is planning to establish new production facilities and is aiming to
generate Rs. 1,000 crore revenue in the next four years with 10-fold sales
growth.
