MBIL has launched the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+
taking their AMG lineup to 14 products. The most powerful version of Merc’s
E-Class yet is priced at INR 1.5 Crore (ex-showroom India).
The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S packs a 4.0-litre
twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that sends power to all four wheels via the
9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT sports transmission. Peak power and torque outputs
stand at 612 hp at 5750 – 6500 rpm and 850 Nm at 2500–4500 rpm
respectively.
The 4MATIC+ suffix denotes the presence of a
permanent all-wheel-drive system. However, there’s a drift mode present, which
changes the configuration to rear-wheel drive. The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+
can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.4 seconds. It has an electronically
limited top speed of 250 km/h, which can be upped to 300 km/h with the AMG
Driver’s package.
Visually, the biggest differentiator between the
regular E-Class variants sold in India and the newly launched E 63 S AMG is the
wheelbase. While India get only E-Class in LWB guise, the AMG version is based on
the standard wheelbase E-Class. The presence of upsized rims, a different
grille and bumpers, and multiple AMG badges also help set it apart.
