Tesla is introducing a few updates for the interior
of the Model S and Model X, giving more options to prospective buyers of the
high-performance EVs. Most accent trim pieces in the interior of the Tesla
Model S and Model X will be using a new, darker graphite finish and that
applies to all interior options.
Tesla will also offer the new and lighter ‘Oak
Décor’ trim which is part of the ‘Cream Premium’ interior option to all
versions, bar the P100D models. The Black Textile pack is now also unavailable
for the range-topping Model S and X, as Tesla is looking into way to streamline
its production process. The EV maker started bundling interior finish options
last year for the same reason.
That has resulted in buyers having fewer ways to
spec the interior of their new Tesla, with the company claiming that the
current available options have been put together by using years of sales data
and choosing the most popular combos.
Tesla said that the
changes to the interior options are effective immediately and that current
orders still in pre-production are being updated.
As for the Model 3, customers wishing to get a white
interior will have to wait a little longer as Tesla will make the option
available during the second half of the year. Currently the only interior
option for the entry-level Tesla is black faux-leather upholstery.
