A limited-edition ‘Sport’ model has joined the Toyota Etios range in South Africa. The Toyota Etios Sport is available only as a hatchback. The Etios sold in South Africa is manufactured in India at TKM’s facility in Bidadi, Karnataka.

The Toyota Etios Sport has enhanced exterior styling with a two-tone colour scheme. It features a black roof extending from the A to the C-pillar, as well as a black front grille, black ORVMs, 15-inch silver alloy wheels, black rear spoiler and a Sport badge on the tailgate. Underbody spoilers, unique decals or other styling enhancements are not included in the Sport variant. Two colour choices are available – Glacier White and Retro Red Metallic.

The interior of the Sport is the same as that of the regular Toyota Etios. Key comfort and convenience features include all four power windows with one-touch operation for the driver window, tilt-adjustable steering, adjustable rear headrests (all three) and double DIN audio system with CD drive, USB input and four speakers. Safety features include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

The Toyota Etios Sport measures 3,884 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,510 mm in height. It is powered by the standard 1.5L petrol naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 90 PS at 5,600 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Like in the regular Toyota Etios, a 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels. The fuel economy is rated at 16.67 km/l (6.0 l/100 km).

The Toyota Etios Sport costs ZAR 178,800. A 2-year/30,000 km service plan and 3-year/100,000 km warranty are included in this price. Toyota has not disclosed how many units of the limited-edition model it plans to offer and until when. Sales of the old Toyota Etios Sport, which was launched in 2014 and featured an aero body kit, were limited to 200 units.
