Europe, this Buick LaCrosse prototype is modestly camouflaged and this suggests the
styling changes will be limited to the front and rear fascias. Details are hard
to make out but it appears the model will be equipped with restyled headlights
and a new front bumper with a larger lower air intake. The grille also looks
slightly wider than before but it’s hard to be certain at this point.
The minor styling changes continue at the rear as
the photos show the model has a new bumper with a center-mounted light. The
prototype has also been equipped with temporary taillights and this suggests
the production model will have new lighting units.
Since the LaCrosse is still relatively new, we
shouldn’t expect drastic changes in the interior. That being said, it wouldn’t
be surprising if the car received an updated infotainment system and new driver
assistance features.
It remains unclear if there will be any changes
under the hood but the current LaCrosse is offered with a 2.5-liter
four-cylinder engine that produces 194 hp and 254
Nm of torque. The car can also be equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine
developing 310 hp and 363 Nm of torque.
Buick has previously hinted at the possibility of
offering the LaCrosse Hybrid in the United States and the model would fit in
nicely with GM’s electrification plans. However, a Buick spokesperson has
previously said this would only occur if there was enough demand to warrant the
move.
Little else is known about the updated LaCrosse but
speculation suggests the model could be introduced next year, possibly as a
2020 model.
