With the all-new X5 already revealed, BMW is now putting the finishing touches on the redesigned X6 coupe-SUV ahead of its launch next year. Today we bring you the clearest look so far at the design of the new luxury crossover from Munich, courtesy of a new set of spy shots taken somewhere in Germany.

Something tells us you won’t be surprised by the way the new X6 looks. “Evolution” seems to be the name of the game within BMW’s design department, and the 2020 X6 makes no exception. The best way to describe it would be likening it to a bigger X4.

Despite being covered completely by camouflage foil, the bodywork of the new X6 allows us to see that the shape, especially at the rear, looks more elegant and better tied-together than on the current model. The latest X4 seems to have influenced its bigger brother in this respect.  Just look at the photos of the 2019 X4 and 2020 X6 sitting one above the other on the car transporter and you’ll get a pretty good idea of the differences in size and design between the two models.

We can’t show you pics of the interior just yet, but there shouldn’t be any surprises in that department either. Expect the dashboard to mirror the one from the new X5, with the X6 also to get a boost in terms of practicality offering more space for passengers and their luggage — just like its platform brother.

While the 2019 X5 will go on sale this fall, customers will have to wait until at least spring/summer 2019 to get their hands on the 2020 X6. As for the X6M performance version, it’s not expected to arrive before the end of next year.
