Bollinger Motors is planning a new version of its B1
four-door electric utility truck that will feature a removable glass roof. All six individual glass parts
that form the roof will be removable. With the exception of the windshield, all
glass parts will be detachable, including the side windows and rear screen.
In
addition, the doors can be dismantled as well for an effective way of adding
some open-air pleasure to the electric SUV. What this new CGI reveals is the fact that the B1’s
all-aluminum chassis and roll-cage structure come with modular and removable
panels. Customers will be able to choose between a roof made of glass or
aluminum.
Earlier this year, Bollinger announced that it has
fitted a bigger 120-kWh battery pack to its electric SUV for a minimum driving
range of 322 km.
The B1 SUV features a dual-motor electric powertrain
that delivers a combined 520 hp and 696 Nm of torque. That’s enough
to allow the 2,218-kg SUV to go from 0-96 km/h in
under 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 159 km/h.
The B1 should be good off-road too, as it has an
adjustable suspension that can vary ground clearance from 10 to 20 inches
(254-508 mm). The electric SUV is not in production yet, but the New York-based
startup expects that to happen by the end of 2019. The first deliveries will be
in early 2020, with the company planning to build the 4-door version at first.
