Another facelifeted Audi Q7 prototype has stepped in
front of the cameras, only this time it wasn’t wearing its old lighting units
at the rear. If you pay close attention to that area right beneath the taillights,
it kind of looks as though there’s some type of horizontal strip running across
the rear of the 2020 Q7. Whether that’s a light strip like on the e-tron or a
metallic insert like on the all-new A6 Avant, we don’t know.
If it’s the latter, which dare we say is more likely
(due to its minimal width), then it’s definitely positioned differently than on
the A6 Avant, where it connects the taillights right through the middle,
whereas here, it is positioned much lower.
As for the graphics, it looks like an original
design, perhaps resembling the A6 Avant’s ever so slightly. Last but not least is the overall design of
the tailgate, which has also been modified, most visibly around the license
plate area. Other visual changes include the smaller front grille and the
redesigned headlights (with a downwards kink), but we already knew that.
Audi will most certainly look to make the 2020 Q7 a
more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient SUV, although we haven’t heard
any reports regarding its engine range. We don’t expect any diesel versions
reaching the States though.
Inside, the tweaked Q7 will undoubtedly boast better
active safety tech, improved connectivity and more up to date software, to go
with any potential dashboard design changes. A global market launch for the
2020 Audi Q7 should take place sometime next year.
