Sharing most nuts and bolts with the new X5, the
third-gen X6 is expected to debut next year. It will be followed by the most
dynamic member of the series, the X6 M, which will bring the heat on the
upcoming Audi RS Q8 and next Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe.
Spied testing at the Nurburgring recently, the
all-new X6 M isn’t ready to shed its camo just yet. But that’s okay since, for
the most part, we know what to expect: X4 and X5 design influences, combined
with a specific M body kit, quad exhaust tips and larger wheels.
The new X6 M will be powered by the same V8 engine
as the latest M5. In the super saloon, the twin-turbo 4.4-liter unit pumps out
600 PS and 750 Nm of torque, good enough for a
0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds and, with the optional M Driver’s
Package, a top speed of 305 km/h.
Rumor has it that BMW’s engineers have slightly
tuned the V8 in the new X6 M, but the exact numbers remains unknown. Still, it
could benefit from as much as 625 PS, which is what the M5
Competition churns out.
