Jaguar Land Rover
has invested in electric motorcycle manufacturer Arc through its InMotion
Investment fund. The UK motorcycle company was founded by former Jaguar
executive Mark Truman and recently unveiled its very first model in the form of
the Vector.
The bike utilizes a
lightweight carbon-composite structure and a battery-module monocoque to limit
weight while matching the stiffness of MotoGP bikes. Additionally, the Arc
Vector incorporates carbon fiber front and rear swingarms, bespoke Ohlins
dampers, and Brembo brakes. All up, the Vector weighs 220 kg, roughly
the same as more traditional ICE sports bikes.
Power for the
Vector comes from an advanced electric motor and battery pack that allow the
bike to reach 96 km/h in 3.1 seconds before topping out at 193 km/h. The bike is also capable of travelling roughly 320 km in urban use and 193 km on the highway. The Vector has also been
designed to work seamlessly with an advanced helmet that includes a heads up
display.
