Tork Motorcycles launched India’s first
electric motorcycle, the Tork T6X, in September 2016, priced at INR 1.25 lakh
(ex-factory). Deliveries were expected to commence from March 2017. However,
according to the company CFO, the shipments are delayed indefinitely.
The Tork T6X is powered by a 6KW electric motor that
churns out 8 bhp of maximum power and 27 Nm of peak torque. The electric
powertrain is mated to a single-speed gearbox that transfers drive to the wheel
via a final chain drive.
The motorcycle has an electronically limited top
speed of 100 km/h and a maximum riding range of 100 km on a single charge. The
battery pack can be charged 80 per cent within an hour, while it takes two
hours to fully charge the battery.
Features list include a 4.3-inch TFT instrument
cluster with Smartphone connectivity and GPS Navigation. It features the Tork
Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS), which monitors the motorcycles’
stats, while it also allows the rider to switch between the Sports and Economy
drive modes.
The Tork T6X features a storage area for a helmet
and a mobile charging port in place of the fuel tank. Braking power comes from
disc brakes at both the ends along with dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike has a ground clearance
of 160 mm and a saddle height of 785 mm, while the kerb weight is 130 kg. The
company plans to install 100 charging points in cities like Pune, Bangalore and
Delhi.
