With the all-new Mercedes GLE already out, it’s only
a matter of time before we start seeing the 2020 GLE Coupe version drop its
camouflage. This here isn’t just any regular GLE
Coupe. A close look at the rear end reveals a set of quad round exhaust tips,
which in turn indicate that we’re dealing with an AMG-powered 53 model. Had
this been a more powerful AMG version, it would have had quad squared exhausts.
Since we know there are those who find the current
GLE Coupe a bit thick around the edges, it’s worth noting that this all-new
model looks a look sleeker, despite the massive grille, AMG-specific front and
rear spoilers and its sporty diffuser.
We’re also offered a decent look at the taillights
graphics, which sort of resemble those of the all-new GLE, although we wouldn’t
bet on the overall shape of the taillights being the same. As for its interior, we expect to
see the same design as with the regular GLE, meaning a dual-screen setup, four
air vents, grab handles for the center console and basically Mercedes‘ latest
switchgear, materials and software.
Since this is the AMG 53 version, it should be
powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol unit, producing
435 PS and 520 Nm of torque. Once it’s launched, which we
assume will happen sometime next year, it will have to face speedy versions of
the next BMW X6 as well as the Audi Q8.
