You might be tempted to use the controller to drive
the Bravado Banshee in Grand Theft Auto (GTA), but you can also buy the
real-life model, again, for the right amount of cash. Commissioned by Rockstar Games
and built by West Coast Customs as part of a marketing campaign for the launch
of the GTA V video game, it’s based on a 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10, and it’s up
for sale – again.
The ad posted on eBay by the Texas-based vendor
reveals a buy-it-now price of US$ 62,991, and states that it has only 8,193 miles
(13,185 km) on the clock. For a 12-year old custom Viper, its tires have barely
seen any tarmac, and that 8.3-liter V10 engine, paired to a six-speed manual
transmission, still has a lot of life left in it.
The Bravado Banshee was originally won by a
non-gamer grandmother from Havelock, North Carolina. It was her youngest son
who purchased the video game using her credit card, so she became the legal
owner of the car. Back in mid-2014, she tried selling it for US$ 170,000 to pay for her
son’s college. However, the car failed to change hands, and in a subsequent
listing in early 2015, she ended up letting it go for only US$ 45,200.
The Bravado Banshee wasn’t the moneymaker some
thought it could be. And this was proved once more in August this year, when it
was sold again at auction for a mere US$ 30,800.
