Hezhong Automobile is showcasing its brand new
Eureka 02 study at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. It has fresh design language
that’s meant to hint at the automaker’s future products. While there isn’t any information
regarding potential powertrain options or any tech for that matter, we can at
least do a deep dive into the 02’s styling and try to figure out if we’d like
to see this thing on our streets sometime in the future, or rather have it
remain in concept form for all time.
The overall design of the Eureka 02 is both sharp
and curvy, whether you’re looking at its profile, front fascia or rear end. The
front has relatively simple styling, albeit with some sharp headlights that
follow the contours of the hood, then split apart at the far edges – kind of
like a snake tooth. As for the enclosed front grille, it points to battery
power only.
Moving on to the profile, we notice a belt line that
extends from behind the front wheel all the way to the taillights, while the
front fenders boast a hook-like insert that teardrops away from the headlights
and splashes down beneath the A-pillar, right underneath the camera mirrors.
The rear end features what most would commonly call
an SUV Coupe shape, not unlike that of a BMW X6. Unlike the X6 though, the 02
has full-length taillights and a more pronounced “duck-tail” design. Other
visual traits include the silver roof line, massive rear diffuser and large
22-inch five-spoke wheels.
According to Autohome, the Hezhong Eureka 02 will
spawn a production-ready vehicle in the not too distant future.
