The Maserati
Levante isn’t selling like hotcakes but
this didn’t stop Ray Allen from buying one. The former NBA basketball
player has had his new Italian SUV personalized by the company’s ‘One of One’
program, taking delivery yesterday at
the 2019 New York Auto Show.
Allen’s Levante GTS
is finished in a matte Blu Astro tri-coat paint, and features carbon fiber
exterior details on the side mirror casings and door handles. The air vent
covers, grille, license plate bracket, exhaust tips and logos feature a dark
chrome finish, with the 22-inch wheels, with dark chrome tint, combined with
Blu Astro brake calipers complete the look on the outside.
The former
professional basketball player gave clear indications to the Centro Stile
Maserati when it comes to the cabin, too. The interior sports blue denim-like
trim and leather while carbon fiber with blue thread woven was created
specifically for this Levante.
Another special
touch are the floor mats, which were inspired by the strings of a basketball
net and sneaker soles. The contrast stitching, Allen’s signature embroidered
behind the driver’s headrest and backlit door sill inserts with laser engraving
reading ‘Maserati for Ray’ round up the list of visual updates. With this
build, the 43-year old athlete, who played 18 seasons in the NBA and was
introduced in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame last year, wanted
to capture his love for Miami.
Aside from the
one-off Levante GTS, Maserati has the entire lineup at the car show in New
York. The Ghibli, Quattroporte, Levante, GranTurismo Convertible and Levante S
Q4 Gransport with Pelletessuta interior by Ermenegildo Zegna, can all be seen
in The City That Never Sleeps.
As for the ‘One of
One’ customization program, it will launch in North America in the near future,
so expect more unique builds.
