BMW has launched the new 2019
7-Series (facelift) also in India today. The company has priced its flagship
sedan from INR 1.22 crore*. BMW offers the 2019 7 Series in India in three trim levels - Design
Pure Excellence (DPE), Design Pure Excellence Signature and M Sport. The new
model features a larger and more prominent single-frame kidney grille flanked
by sleeker and more modern looking headlamp units, a redesigned front bumper
and a revised bonnet up front. At the rear, the sleeker tail lamps and the new
bumper make it look more aggressive.
Interior changes are not that extensive visually.
BMW has introduced a redesigned steering wheel and the BMW Live Cockpit
Professional comprising a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a
10.25-inch central display and repositioned the wireless charging tray from
under the centre console armrest to in front of the cupholders so that the driver
can always have an eye on the phone while driving. Also, the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant responds with a simple "Hey BMW" prompt now.
The new BMW 7 Series is available with the same
3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as the old model. The
3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel engine delivers 265 PS of maximum power
and 620 Nm of torque, while the 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit petrol engine
churns out 340 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of torque. In addition, customers
can go for also the new 745Le xDrive plug-in hybrid variant that returns a fuel
economy of 39.5 km/l.
The 745Le xDrive deploys a 3.0-litre in-line,
six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 286 PS and 450Nm of peak torque that
works in tandem with an electric motor that makes 108 PS and 265 Nm of peak
torque. The combined output of the system is rated at 384 PS and 600 Nm. An
8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system work together to
route power to the wheels. Using the battery power alone, the sedan can achieve
a top speed of 140 km/h or go up to 53 km if driving efficiently.
There's something for performance enthusiasts too -
the M760Li xDrive. This variant sports a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol
motor which delivers 609 PS and 850 Nm of torque. In this variant too, an
8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system are standard. A
0-100 km/h acceleration run takes only 3.8 seconds, which is incredibly fast.
