Audi unveiled the facelifted Q7 last month and now
the company is turning its attention to smaller Q5. Spotted for the first time
earlier today, the updated crossover has a new front fascia with a revised
grille that is hidden beneath plastic camouflage. The crossover has also been
equipped with restyled headlights and a modified bumper that features new air
intakes. Styling changes are less noticeable out back, but the Q5 has updated
taillights with horizontal graphics. The rear bumper is also new, but the
changes are barely noticeable.
Spy photographers couldn’t get close enough to snap
interior pictures, but the cabin is expected to follow in the footsteps of the
facelifted A4. As a result, the crossover could be outfitted with a new infotainment
system that features simplified menus and a 10.1-inch display. We can also
expect natural-language voice control technology and an available 12.3-inch
digital instrument cluster.
Engine options remain unconfirmed, but the current
Q5 offers an assortment of diesels including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with
outputs of 161 hp and 400 Nm of torque as well as
187 hp and 400 Nm of torque. There are also two
3.0-liter V6s producing 228 hp and 500 Nm of
torque as well as 282 hp and 620 Nm of torque.
On the petrol side, there’s a 2.0-liter
four-cylinder with 242 hp and 370 Nm of torque.
The company also offers a plug-in hybrid as well as two high-performance
variants. The SQ5 TDI has a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 342 hp and 700 Nm of torque, while the standard SQ5 has a
3.0-liter TSFI V6 developing 349 hp and 500 Nm of
torque.
