The 2020 Nissan Patrol has been spied undisguised
during an apparent photoshoot in the Middle East. While the video quality leaves a
lot to be desired, the clip shows the SUV has an all-new tailgate with an
angular recess for the license plate. We can also see new taillights and what
appears to be a modified bumper.
Additional styling details are hard to make out, but
it looks like the Patrol will simply be getting a minor facelift. This isn’t
too surprising as the largely identical Infiniti QX80 was updated for the 2018
model year.
If the Patrol / Armada follows in the footsteps of
its more luxurious counterpart, the SUV should also receive a new front fascia
with restyled headlights. The model could also have some minor interior updates
including a new steering wheel and shifter. There could also be new driver
assistance systems, but nothing is official as of yet.
Engine options will presumably carryover, so the
US-spec Armada should have a 5.6-liter V8 that produces 390 hp and 534 Nm of torque. It should be paired to a seven-speed
automatic transmission which can send power to an optional four-wheel drive
system.
In overseas models, the Patrol is offered with a
handful of different engines including a 4.0-liter V6 that develops 275 hp and 394 Nm of torque. There’s even a Nismo variant
with 428 hp. Given that the model was taking part in a photoshoot, an unveiling
should be right around the corner. Nothing is official, but rumors have
suggested the 2020 Patrol could be introduced this fall.
