Pricing details for
the sportier looking and tuned 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD have been announced with
confirmation that the big sedan will start at US$ 42,300 excluding a destination
charge of US$ 955. Cars Direct claims to have uncovered pricing information for
the beefed-up Avalon through official order guides. A US$ 43,255 total price makes
the Avalon TRD US$ 200 less expensive than the Avalon Touring and US$ 200 more
expensive than the Avalon Limited.
Unveiled alongside
the Camry TRD last year, the Toyota Avalon TRD features eye-catching bodywork
that includes a gargantuan black front grille, distinctive side skirts, tinted
taillights, a rear diffuser, twin tailpipes, and a trunklid lip spoiler. The
car also sits on a set of custom 19-inch matte black wheels which each weigh 2 kg less than the wheel of an Avalon XSE.
Toyota also worked
on a number of mechanical modifications for the punchy front-wheel drive sedan.
For example, there are larger 12.9-inch front brake discs with twin-piston
calipers as well as a new suspension package with bespoke shock absorbers and
lowered springs. Powering the Avalon TRD, and the Camry TRD, is a 3.5-liter V6
engine pumping out 301 hp. This engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic
transmission complete with a sport mode and paddle shifters.
Interior
alterations made to the cabin of the Avalon TRD aren’t as significant as those
found across the exterior but do include Sport SofTex front seats with red
accents and embroidered headrests. Also found within are TRD-branded floor
mats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red contrast stitching, and red
seatbelts.
