The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera lineup is growing
as the automaker has announced plans to introduce the Bijan Edition during
Monterey Car Week. Commissioned by the Beverly Hills based House of Bijan, the special
edition was created in partnership with Q by Aston Martin.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but said
the model will be available as a coupe and volante. Each will feature a bespoke
Bijan Yellow exterior with a “subtle paisley pattern ghosted into the bonnet
paint.” There will also be a handful of other “striking enhancements” including
a carbon fiber rear spoiler with yellow Bijan branding.
Inside, drivers will find soft alligator leather and
Bijan logos. Customers will also have the option of having their initials
integrated into the veneers. There’s no word on pricing, but the DBS Superleggera Bijan Edition
will be able to order from the House of Bijan as well as Aston Martin dealers
worldwide. It will become part of their “driveable art” collection which has
previously included gaudy versions of the Bugatti Veyron and Rolls-Royce
Phantom.
Besides the special edition, Aston Martin will stage
the North American debuts of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and Valhalla
hypercar. The latter is a mid-engined model which was created in collaboration
with Adrian Newey and Red Bull Advanced Technologies.
It will become Aston Martin’s third mid-engine
hypercar after the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro. However, it will be more
practical and road-friendly. Despite these concessions, the car will have a
“high-efficiency, high-output turbocharged V6 petrol engine and [a]
battery-electric hybrid system.” This could give the model a combined output of
around 1,000 hp.
Production will be limited to 500 units and the
Valhalla will have a starring role in the latest installment of the James Bond
movie franchise.
