The 2020 Renault Kwid is very close to its launch
now. It has started reaching dealerships. The 2020 Renault Kwid features a slew of new
elements including an LED instrument cluster and a larger 8-inch MediaNAV
Evolution touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Both of these have been carried over from the recently launched Renault Triber.
Furthermore, it also features a fresh steering wheel, redesigned central AC
vents, repositioned power window switches and repositioned rotary gear lever
for the AMT which has now been shifted to the middle of the front seats.
The new dash
design doesn't accommodate the earlier seen storage bin above the glove box
which came in handy for throwing miscellaneous articles or remnants. The
black-and-orange interior colour scheme of the Kwid Climber remains unchanged
and could also be found on the interiors just like the earlier model.
On the outside, the new Kwid boasts a thoroughly
updated front fascia with high-set LED DRLs, new radiator grille, two-tier
headlamps and a sportier lower grille. At the rear, there are tweaked
combination lamps with LED tail lights. All these design updates are meant to
put the Kwid back in spotlight especially when Maruti Suzuki is prepping up the
S-Presso which has been targeted to bite a chunk out of the Kwid's sales.
A recent report suggested that it will be made
available in early October this year and will feature four variants. The names
and deeper details aren't available as of yet.
In terms of mechanicals, the 2020 Kwid will be
offered with the same 0.8-litre SCe petrol engine (54 PS/72 Nm) and 1.0-litre
SCe petrol engine (68 PS/91 Nm), but in the updated BS-VI versions. The engines
will come paired to a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT.
