The next generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander has come out for a series of road tests – and it looks like its design draws upon the Engelberg Tourer Concept seen at the Geneva show earlier this year.

The current-gen Outlander has been around since 2012 and is widely considered outdated in a number of ways. The upcoming fourth generation of the SUV should fix at least some of the current issues.

Among other things, chances are good that it will come based on the next revision of the Nissan Rogue platform, which will make it larger and give the passengers more legroom. It will likely pack same the 1.5-liter turbo-four engine as the Eclipse Cross (150 hp). A hybrid variant based on a larger 2.4-liter gas engine may emerge later on.

The premiere will most probably occur at the next Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland on March 2020.
