Kia is allegedly developing a new flagship variant of the Telluride SUV bathed in luxurious new features, Auto Spies reports. According to the publication, the luxurious new Telluride could include a two-tone paint scheme and be made available with a host of new interior colors. While no other details are offered about the vehicle, it would likely also be sold with new distinctive interior features and could serve as a more affordable alternative to the all-new Genesis GV80.

As if that wasn’t enough, it’s claimed that Kia could also be working on another Telluride variant this time focused on upgrading the vehicle’s off-road abilities with skid plates, beefed-up tires, and a bull bar. The finished result could be quite similar to the bold Telluride off-road concepts unveiled at the SEMA Show back in 2018.

If the new luxurious Telluride does indeed become a reality, it could start at roughly US$ 50,000, about US$ 10,000 more than the current Telluride SX flagship. A launch later this year is possible. It remains unclear if any powertrain modifications would be made to the vehicle but we’re doubtful anything would change. That would mean the Telluride’s current 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine with 291 hp and 355 Nm would be the only engine on offer. All Telluride models come exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard with all-wheel drive an optional extra. We suspect the new luxury flagship would come with all-wheel drive as standard.
