Mopar’s debut at the Chicago Auto Show is
the 2020 Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 Limited Edition. In simple terms, this is what
you would end up with if you raided Mopar’s stash and fitted all the
accessories you found on your Wrangler Unlimited. This loaded-up accessory
model is only available for 2020 in an unspecified (albeit limited) quantity,
hence the ‘JPP 20’ in the name which stands for Jeep Performance Parts 2020.
Mopar boss Mark Bosanac explains best what
the JPP 20 is all about. “The new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 is a
‘check-all-the boxes’ off-road vehicle for enthusiasts. We loaded the Jeep
brand’s iconic rock crawler with factory-backed and quality-tested, authentic
Jeep Performance Parts specifically designed and engineered to tackle the
toughest conditions,” he says.
Customers who are interested in getting
one must first choose one of the three available engines. The range includes a
270 HP 2.0-liter turbo-four, 285 HP 3.6-liter V6, or the new 260 HP 3.0-liter
turbodiesel V6. With that out of the way, a decision must be made on the
exterior color, though that won’t take long because the only available paints
are Ocean Blue or White.
That’s pretty much all the work required
from the customer because Mopar will take care of everything else, which is
loading up the Wrangler Unlimited with a ridiculous amount of accessories.
There are too many of them to list here so we’ll only mention what’s important.
On the outside, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 gets steel tube doors, a custom
front bumper with a winch receiver and reinforced D-rings, a waterproof winch,
an accessory front skid plate and rock rails.
Mopar will also
throw in a mirror relocation kit, a swing gate reinforcement kit and a center
high-mount stop lamp relocation kit. The latter moves the third brake light in
the center of the spare to allow for the mounting of a larger tire. If you
worry about the naked look of the JPP 20, you should know you can always revert
to the factory aluminum doors as they are included in the package.
Other exterior upgrades include an
American flag hood graphic, ‘JPP’ graphics on the passenger-side quarter panel,
laser-etched aluminum ‘JPP’ badge on the driver’s side of the swing gate, as
well as blacked out fender vents and fuel door.
Inside, Mopar fits JPP-embroidered Katzkin
leather seats, all-weather floor mats and a cargo organizer at the back. FCA’s
customizing division will also offer buyers the choice of several kits
including a personalized booklet and other memorabilia, along with
factory-installed accessory parts. The latter will include a JPP 2.0-inch lift
kit, a 5.0- and 7.0-inch LED lighting kit with mounting brackets, and five
different JPP accessory wheel styles with four different tire options.
FCA will start taking orders for the 2020
Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 Limited Edition in the second quarter of this year.
