In this first official teaser image,
the 2021 Fiat Strada clearly reveals its Toro-inspired styling. That’s most obvious in the dynamic
profile, the shape of the headlights and taillights, the window line and the
shape of the wheel arches. While the teaser photo shows a crew cab body style,
the new Strada will also be available in single cab configuration.
Unfortunately, Fiat Brazil did not reveal
any information along with the teaser image but the upcoming 2021 Strada is not
a total mystery. The most important thing to know is the new model replaces the
Palio-based namesake pickup Fiat has been selling on various markets worldwide
since 1996.
Besides the modern design, the new Fiat
Strada is likely to adopt a new platform that will combine the Argo’s Small MP1
architecture with a longer wheelbase and components designed specifically for
it. The new model will most certainly be bigger than the original Strada,
though it won’t grow too much to avoid generating unwanted internal competition
for the Fiat Toro.
Nothing is confirmed regarding the
powertrains but reports from Brazil suggest the 2021 Strada will pack a 100 HP 1.3-liter Firefly engine as standard. A turbocharged version of the
same power plant could be offered as an option. Base models should get a manual
gearbox while an automatic transmission will be offered on higher-spec
variants. The 2021 Fiat Strada will debut later this year, possibly at the Sao
Paulo Auto Show in November.
