Citroen has opened the order books for the
new C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid in the United Kingdom, offering it in two grades
named the Flair and Flair Plus. Pricing starts at £ 35,340 and
£ 36,815 respectively, and deliveries will commence in
mid-2020.
Positioned as the entry-level model, the
C5 Aircross Flair brings standard Connect Nav with 3-year subscription to
TomTom Live Traffic, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, active
blind spot monitoring, active safety brake and active lane keeping assist.
Paying an extra £ 1,475 for
the Flair Plus gets you additional amenities, such as the active cruise
control, electric driver’s seat and hands-free tailgate. This trim level also
adds the 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, as well as part-leather interior
upholstery.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of
a 1.6-liter turbo-four petrol engine and an electric motor that develop a
combined 225 PS and 320 Nm torque. Feeding the
motor is the 13.2 kWh battery that gives it a 55 km electric range in
the WLTP cycle, takes less than 2 hours to charge with the optional 7.4 kW
charger and 7 hours using a domestic socket. The powertrain drives the front
wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Compared to the petrol- and diesel-powered
C5 Aircross models, the PHEV adds ‘Hybrid’ badging on the front fenders and
tailgate and can be specified in the optional Anodised Blue exterior color. It
also features a storage compartment under the boot floor for storing the cable,
custom interface for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, special
drive mode selector, programmable cabin pre-conditioning, keyless entry and go
and acoustically insulated front side windows.
The vehicle also benefits from the
Progressive Hydraulic Cushions and multi-arm rear suspension.
