Hyundai has teased an eye-catching
electric vehicle sports sedan concept it will premiere at next month’s Geneva
Motor Show dubbed ‘Prophecy.’ The South Korean car manufacturer says the study
embodies Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy thanks to its
“beautiful silhouette.” This teaser previews the rear fascia of the vehicle
that includes a dedicated light bar stretching out from the decklid as well as
two vertical brake lights incorporated into the bumper. Of particular note are
the concept’s flared wheel arches.
“’Prophecy’ does not follow trends. It
accentuates timeless beauty that will stand the test of time,” head of Hyundai
Global Design Center SangYup Lee said. “Its iconic design stands to expand
Hyundai’s design spectrum toward even broader horizons.” The concept gets its
name because it will define the direction of future Hyundai designs and
establish “itself as a design icon for Hyundai’s EV lineup.”
It remains to be seen if Hyundai has any
plans to put the concept into production. The Hyundai ‘Prophecy’ concept EV
will be unveiled to the world on March 3 at the carmaker’s Geneva Motor Show
stand at 11:45 CEST. Hyundai will also present an electrification strategy
under the concept of ‘Real Progress is in the Air’ during the Geneva show.
This teaser comes shortly after it was
confirmed that Hyundai will join with EV startup Canoo to develop an
all-electric platform based on Canoo’s scalable skateboard design to be used by
future Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles.
