Audi USA today announced pricing for the Sportback version of its best-selling vehicle. The Q5 Sportback will start at US$ 48,895 (US$ 47,800 plus US$ 1,095 delivery, which has been added to all following prices) with the hotter SQ5 version starting at US$ 57,195. The Q5 is Audi’s best selling model in the US and is therefore an important one. With the addition of a Sportback model, Audi will doubtless be looking to add to the Q5’s 2020 sales total of more than 50,000 deliveries.
Powering the Q5 Sportback will be a 2.0L
TFSI engine that makes 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The SQ5, meanwhile, will
make use of a 3.0L V6 that makes 349 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Those engines
help them reach 60 mph in 5.7 seconds for the Q5 and 4.7 seconds for the SQ5.
The SQ5 also comes standard with adaptive dampers and air suspension to allow
it to stay glued to the road when the going gets twisty.
Inside, both models 24.7 cubic feet of
cargo capacity with all of the seats up and 51.9 cubic feet with the rear seats
folded down. That’s only slightly less than the regular Q5‘s 25.1 and 53.1
cubic feet of cargo. A 10.1-inch infotainment screen running Audi’s latest
software will give occupants to the SUV’s many features. A 12.3-inch display
replaces the gauges, meanwhile, and offers added functions like map display and
more. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard if you don’t feel like
messing around with Audi’s infotainment. A 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo
system is also available, as are Matrix-design LED headlights, if you’re
willing to shell out a little more cash.
With prices starting at nearly US$ 49,000,
Audi is pricing the base Q5 Sportback above the regular Q5 by about US$ 4,500, and
the base SQ5 Sportback above the base SQ5 by a little more than US$ 3,000. Prices
for the highest Prestige models, rise to US$ 57,595 for the Q5 Sportback and US$ 65,795 for the SQ5 Sportback. Audi will not be making a Sportback version of
the hybrid Q5 TFSI e for the 2021 model year.
