The final build slots for the Polestar 1 are now available to order, as the brand will complete the production run of its halo plug-in hybrid performance coupe towards the end of 2021. The Polestar 1, which is manufactured at the company’s factory in Chengdu, China, packs a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 609 HP and 1,000 Nm of torque.
Polestar’s first production model combines
two electric motors at the rear axle producing a combined 408 HP, with a 340 HP
supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine at the front and a
34 kWh battery pack. This helps the Polestar 1 offer the longest EV range of
any hybrid, at 124 km per the WLTP test cycle.
The styling of the Polestar 1 has been
widely praised for its dynamic and beautiful lines while the bodywork is made
out of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to offset, in some degree, the
weight penalty of the electric motors and battery pack. In addition, it sports
a set of six-piston Akebono brakes, as well as a set of adjustable Öhlins Dual
Flow Valve dampers in the suspension. The electric motors on the rear axle also
feature torque vectoring, further ensuring that grip won’t be an issue for the
Polestar 1 no matter the weather conditions.
The final batch of Polestar 1 models are
now available for order at the company’s website, polestar.com, and interested
customers can visit a Polestar Space dealer, where possible, for a test drive.
