Almost 15 years in the market would be more than enough for pretty much any modern vehicle, but not for the Ducato, as Fiat decided that it needs yet another facelift. Normally, this red prototype would have passed as just another van, but spy photographers saw that it has its front end partially covered up, so they took out their camera and snapped a few pictures.
The visual changes are modest,
nonetheless, as they revolve around the front bumper and grille. The headlamps
appear to sport different graphics, but this is where the changes end, for now
at least, as the back end looks identical, with the small bumper and vertical
taillights mounted on each side of the two doors.
Partially visible through the windows in
certain images, the cockpit was largely under wraps, suggesting that the
dashboard panel and perhaps other parts will be updated. We don’t know what to
expect at this point, though it will probably get a new infotainment system
with a larger screen and more user-friendly graphics, and a digital rearview
mirror like its Ram ProMaster sibling, in addition to revised upholstery and
trim.
The engine family is likely to be revamped
and should still include a battery-electric version. The current E-Ducato
debuted last year, with a 120 HP and 280 Nm of torque electric
motor, and different battery sizes with over 330 km of range with
the biggest unit installed.
