The BYD D1 was developed in a joint venture with ride-hailing company DiDi. It is only available for sale to Didi registered car-hailing drivers. It is a cool-looking purposeful car with a sliding door on the right and a normal door on the left.
Not only that, the cabin also has a complete
infotainment system for passengers, including karaoke features, and a
traditional DiDi taxi light behind the windshield to signal to everyone. Size
of vehicle BYD-DiDi D1 running Taxi is 4,390 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,650 mm
high, and a 2,800 mm wheelbase.
Taxi drivers registered with DiDi will
have the opportunity to hire the D1 first, and the company will begin a pilot
program of commissioning in Trường Sa, Hunan province.
Power comes from a single electric motor
with 136 hp and 180 Nm. horsepower and a peak torque of 180 Nm. The new 53.6kWh
BYD Blade battery makes for a 418 km NEDC range. The BYD D1 costs 151.800 yuan
(Us$ 23.300).
Currently, BYD has no plans to produce a
civilian version of the D1, but it would be a pity not to have it because the
D1 looks pretty and attractive enough to make a car for the household.
