Nissan has expanded its Nismo family beyond the hotter versions of the 370Z and GT-R with a new derivative of the Patrol. Shown at a virtual event hosted at Expo 2020 Dubai, the 2021 Patrol Nismo is aimed exclusively at the Middle East and is basically a more refined version of its predecessor.

Power is supplied by the same naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 engine. It produces and identical 428 Hp, but peak torque has gone slightly down from 565 to 560 Nm. Drivers are aided by intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, high-beam assist and smart rearview mirror. Nissan’s engineers have also tuned the Bilstein shock absorbers, which improves handling, according to the automaker.

As far as the styling goes, there’s no mistaking the 2021 Patrol Nismo for anything else. It brings the same visual updates as the regular variants and adds a sportier body kit. This comprises of the new front bumper with more aggressive side air intakes, bigger lower air intake and different grille. The back end is much more aggressive with a big bumper, diffuser with F1-style brake light, sporty exhaust pipes and larger wing . The Nismo badges decorate the large SUV and its 22-inch wheels, and a red line adorns the lower parts of the body that can otherwise be finished in White Pearl, Black Solid, Silver or Grey.

Adding to the plushness of the interior is the leather and Alcantara upholstery, wrapped around most touchable surfaces, joined by carbon fiber veneer and tother special touches such as the red tachometer. The model is also equipped with a wireless charging pad, USB sockets and Apple CarPlay. A reduction of the frame vibration together with A/C upgrades for the second row increase the ride quality, Nissan claims.

The 2021 Patrol Nismo, which kicks off the brand’s year-long celebrations that mark the model’s 70th anniversary, will launch in the Middle East from April, with a recommended retail price of AED 385,000 (US$ 105,000) including tax .
