The SAIC-VW joint enterprise in China has started producing an elongated Pro version of the Skoda Octavia. Sales should begin next month, and the model will not make it outside of the country.

Unlike the Skoda Karoq and Yeti, this is the first time the Octavia gains some extra body and wheelbase length. More specifically, the wheelbase gains 44 mm and now amounts to 2,730 mm. At 4,753 mm long, the model has quite a bit of extra legroom to offer the rear passengers. The Superb with its 2,841 mm between the axles is still ahead in this respect, however.

The Octavia Pro boasts RS-style bumpers and its own body kit to set it apart from the standard version. The interior houses a 10.3-inch digital dash screen, a 12.1-inch touch-enabled infotainment display and a HUD. New trim materials are used throughout.

The model will mainly ship with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine rated at 150 PS linked with a seven-speed DSG, although manual will be an option as well. Unlike other 148-hp Octavia versions available in other countries, the China spec benefits from independent rear suspension.
