Skoda has given us a first look of what the new generation Fabia will look like inside by releasing a sketch of the interior. The Czech supermini has an overall design inspired by the Octavia and a two-spoke steering wheel that appears to be identical to that of its bigger brother.
The dashboard panel integrates two round
air vents on each side, a standard 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system or
optional 9.2-inch display, 10.2-inch digital dials, new HVAC controls, a center
console with buttons on each side of the gear selector and a traditional
handbrake lever.
Shifting to the MQB-A0 platform means that
the fourth generation Fabia is now more spacious inside. Moreover, the new
architecture makes it compatible with more modern powertrains, and as Skoda has
already announced, it will launch with a naturally aspirated 1.0-liter
three-cylinder engine in two outputs, 65 and 80 PS,
linked to a five-speed manual transmission. The 95 and 110 PS 1.0-liter turbo-three will get a five-speed manual in the lesser
version and six-speed manual or the optional seven-speed DSG in the more
powerful variant. The 150 PS 1.5-liter unit, coupled to a
seven-speed DSG, will sit at the top of the range.
The 2021 Fabia will also feature
semi-autonomous driving functions and a more generous assortment of safety
systems. Its unveiling will take place on May 4 and it will go on sale later
this year.
